The songs of MINNI
The world of Yrsa Vane

Where the cold
turns tender.

“The sea took a lot from me. It never took my voice.”

Yrsa Vane makes Nordic ritual music: old northern words, slow cinematic drums and a voice that comes close enough to whisper. Her songs carry the weight of the sea, the ravens and the names we leave behind.

Every release arrives as a complete world: the song, the film and the imagery, shaped together so you can step inside and stay a while.

Her story

She did not stay down.

  1. The shore

Yrsa grew up in a small fishing town on a cold northern coast, where the wind never stops and the nights last half the year. Her father taught her the old songs on the boat, singing over the engine so the sea could hear him.

  2. The loss

She was sixteen when a winter storm took his boat. The house went quiet. To help her mother she left school and worked early shifts at the fish plant, gutting the catch in the dark before sunrise.

  3. The nights

Every night she came home with cracked hands and sang anyway. A second-hand guitar, a cheap microphone, a notebook full of words in a language almost nobody spoke any more. Studios turned her away. People told her it was too dark, too old, too strange. She kept recording in her room.

  4. Stattu upp

She saved for years, one shift at a time, until she could make the record properly. Aldan, the first song she ever wrote for her father, became the first song the world heard. She did not wait for permission. She rose, because the music would not let her stay down.
